review of MRI after an appointment

Our surgeons recommend patient for MRI. Patient has test performed at outside facility. Films sent for review by our surgeon. Based on results of the MRI the surgeons makes recommendations, many times via a letter.

Is there an appropriate manner to have the surgeon renumerated for the time spent in review and medical decision making?
