Do RN's LPN's need an NPI for billing? If so, what is/are a good resource(s) to use?

The overwhelming majority of RNs and LPNs do not require an NPI as they are not billing. They are employees of a provider.
I believe there may be circumstances (maybe home health) where an RN may bill, and would therefore need an NPI.
I have never come across an instance in my 25+ years of coding and billing where an RN or LPN would need an NPI, but it is possible in certain specialties.
