Wiki RT and LT modifier

Hi,

I have confusion about appending LT and RT modifiers along with the CPTs which have "Unilateral" in the procedure description.
For example.

69210 (Removal impacted cerumen requiring instrumentation, unilateral)

50593(Ablation, renal tumor(s), unilateral, percutaneous, cryotherapy)

So, as we see in above two procedures that "Unilateral" is part of the procedure description. So is it necessary to add LT or RT modifier to indicate which laterality the procedure is being performed?
Please also provide the source of your information, if possible.

Thank you,
Alok

Modifier RT & LT

Hi Alok,

The Description UNILATERAL states that this procedure done on one side neither left nor right mentioned.
Hence you must report RT/LT to denote that in which side the procedure has been performed.
