I am a little confused about the delivery coding in Rural Health Billing. I am being told that in Rural Health physician billing, you bill for each face to face encounter. I was told to unbundle code 59400 and bill each encounter seperately. For example, I am being told to bill an E&M code for the actual admission, then code for the delivery and then code for the anterpartum hospital stay. I am very uneasy about this. I don't think that you can unbundle these codes for any physician setting. Does anyone have any suggestions? I just want to make sure I am coding correctly. Thanks in advance.
