Hello! I have a question on how to code a sacral wound that is not an injury. The patient sits all day long and has developed a sacral wound. Is there a different code other than the "S" code that I can use?

Thank You! Yes, I'm sorry I should have added in my original post that I did ask the provider and she said to use a pressure ulcer would be over coding. Our provider thought maybe a friction code? I didn't see anything that would fit that description. These sores are kind of tricky!

If the doctor doesn't diagnose it as a pressure ulcer, we cannot assume or change the diagnosis. The term wound is broad too. Check in the history and exam sections of the pt record if something is missing I hope you get anunambiguous term for it.
