so on the same date admit and discharge
to bill 99234-99236 the patient has to be admitted and treated for at least 8 hours but less than 24 hours.
No what if the patient was admitted say 09.05.2016 at 4 pm and discharged 09.06.2016 11 am. Is it still ok to use same day admit and discharge code? It's less than 24hours
 
99234-99236 are used when the admit/discharge are done on the same calendar date -- not 24 hour period.

Since the visit spanned 2 calendar dates you would use an admit code for 9/5 and a discharge code for 9/6.
