I have a provider who will be covering a colleague during her maternity leave.
In the morning, the provider will be seeing patients for pre-op medical clearance (E&M). In the afternoon, she will be seeing patients in a different department/specialty for geriatric pre-op screening (consult), and sometimes these are the same patient. Can she bill a patient twice in the same day in different services in different departments?
