I have a report with biopsies from perineal mass and urethral mass with a diagnosis of Sarcomatoid Carcinoma. From my understanding, this is an uncommon form of cancer of malignant cells with properties of both epithelial tumors as well as mesenchymal tumors. Therefore, I am unsure whether to use "carcinoma" of the organ site or the "sarcoma" of the connective tissue.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Sarcomatoid Carcinoma is the same as Carcinosarcoma, which in the ICD-9 book directs you to use Neoplasm, by site, malignant.
 
Thank you for reply. Just to be clear, in your opinion, you would bill malignancy to the organ site and not the connective tissue?
