I thought that I read somewhere that a physician's office is responsible for keeping copies of all payments received, whether insurance or patient, on file for seven years. I am having difficulty finding any documentation to support this. Our office manager wants to eliminate this step. :eek: I would like to make sure we would not be out of compliance by doing so. Can anyone help me out?
