The pediatricians often perform postpartum depression screenings at the 4-6 month well baby visit(99420). If anyone could share info on this code I would be grateful. Do you get reimbursed by any payers? Does the charge go on baby or mom's account? ANY INFO would help!
 
Our office was also billing 99420 with a post-partum depression screening, but we have since stopped. It was becoming too time consuming, for both the clinical staff and the billing staff. Some payers will pay for it, but most were considering it non-covered, and it was being sent to patient balance. Even if we discounted the charge by more then 50%, patients were still complaining about having to pay for it...
