The radiologist is stating that a screening was performed on one breast and a diagnostic was performed on the other. The patient has a history of breast cancer in both, mastectomy with reconstruction on one side, lumpectomy on the other. My feeling is that this is a high risk screening that should be coded as G0202, however the radiologist states that G0206 (diagnostic unilateral) and G0202 (screening bilat) should be charged with modifier GG (screening converted to diagnostic). Has anyone had this situation before?
