Hello,

We do quite a bit of STD Screening in the office and I'm not sure if we are accurately coding the office visits. Generally they come to a 99214 or 99203. Obviously correct coding is going to be dependent on documentation, but can anyone tell me what they typically code for this?

Generally patients want the testing because they are entering a new relationship or they are concerned their partner has cheated. If there are no associated sighns or symptoms and we do the testing more/less because the patient wants it done. How do you think it should be coded. There is always counseling on safe sex practice/ birth control.

Thank You!

Samantha
