The patient comes in with an abscess and we start to perform an I&D 10060. Once the pus is drained the doctor sees a sebaceous cyst and removes it also and has it sent out to the lab for a pathology report. What code would be assigned to the procedure that was done for this?
 
Excision of sebaceous cysts are coded in the 114xx section, depending on location and size. You can also bill for the repair, if an intermediate or complex closure was performed. Simple closure is included in the excision codes.
