Senerio: Member is Self pay, we have a self pay rate of 95.00 for laboratory testing. We are already reducing our billed fees to $95.00 for self pay. I was presented with a "rebate" of $25.00 written on a business card, and was directed to reduce the bill to &75.00, per this hand written card. Is this approriate? I just feel we are already charging below reimbursement rates, and then given an additional discount. I don't feel comfortable doing this, on just them telling me to.

Who's business card was it? Someone employed by your lab, or someone else?

Who directed you to reduce the bill by $25? Someone employed by your lab, or someone else?

Is it the patient who is telling you that he's entitled to an additional discount? Just trying to clarify what's going on here.

I reported and it was handled immediately, and turns out it was the office that did that. But it has been corrected accordingly
