Wanted to come on here to get some clarification on a specific scenario. Say a client is seen for a service, a VOB has not been done prior. Client selects to pay OOP at a self pay cost and then claim is submitted to insurance for possible reimbursement. If the claim is paid, but patient has a deductible/co ins that applies, can the initial payment the patient made be applied to that? Can the patient be billed for any differences (if applicable). OR Should the initial payment the patient makes be the same amount that is billed to the insurance before it is submitted for reimbursement.
