My provider placed a seton (46020) and excised a hemorrhoidal tag (46220). Code 46220 is a separate procedure code. They were two separate issues but since both procedures are located in the anus, does that mean I can't use the -59 modifier? Or, since they were in 2 different sections of the anus, could this be considered 2 separate anatomic sites? Any insights would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Sue

46220 is CCI to 46020...with a modifier indicator of "0" (not allowed)

Sooo...that's a no unfortunately.

Thanks

Thanks Linda,
I should have double checked that first. I saw somebody else code it with a -59 so I got hung up on the anatomy question. TGIF!:D
