We have providers who are performing lesion excisions but in addition to the excision, they are also using a laser to vaporize the lesion area. We have been billing using the 113xx series, depending on size/location, but the providers are questioning whether these are the most appropriate codes to use. The documentation typically states "shave biopsy using a #10 blade was performed followed by CO2 Luxar Laser to vaporize the lesion to the basement membrane...." They do provide the size and location of the lesion as well and indicate use of anesthesia, etc. Can anyone tell me if there are additonal codes we should be using or if the 113xx series is adequate. Thank you.
