My doctor did an Scope I&D for infection but also Extensive Debridement. I'm thinking CPT 29823 only as there is no shoulder scope I&D for infection. Should I add modifier 22? What CPT (s) would you suggest?
Thank you,

Reality check: Just because you bill it does not mean it's going to get paid. After any surgical procedure the joint is going to be flushed out with saline, normally one or two liters. In total your provider did six which is more than normal, but unless the extra time this took is actually documented, I don't see it getting paid. The shoulder joint capsule is small and running an extra 4-5 liters of saline may have taken some extra time, but without that time being documented the reality is that the insurance won't pay. Two cents.
