I know there is no code for this-but have a ruptured iliac aneurysm with multiple trauma. For a quicker fix-drs place a shunt in the common iliac to the external iliac and suture into place.

Considered actual ruptured iliac aneurysm repair and repair artery non-vein but sounds deceptive and yet this was a difficult surgery.

Patient was in bad shape-this was damage control. they come back a couple days later and ligate the iliac and do a fem-fem bypass so I can't bill the shunt as an aneurysm repair 2 days earlier.

any ideas? I have heard of this being done before-but not from a coding standpoint.

thx. Kim
