There's a patient comes in because he has a chin laceration. The Dr. exam the head no evidence of a head injury . The length of the laceration 2cm. The Dr. repairs the laceration and three suture were place. My Question is can you code the laceration repair with the e/m? or do you only bill the laceration? also when the patient comes back within 10 days for suture removal so do you only code the E/m that is approriate for the level of service? I'm so confused, please help.

You can code the E/M with mod -25 for the initial visit. Lac repairs have a 10 day global so an E/M should not be reported for the suture removal. It would be coded 99024 at no charge.
