Just a simple question - To determine level of complexity

Kidney biopsy - in regards to the Amount and/for Complexity of data to be reviewed, where would this go?

Lab section in CPT
Radiology section in CPT
or
Medicine section in CPT

Thank you!

What/how exactly about the kidney biopsy are you reviewing?

A path report? than I'd put it under Labs
A surgical report? then I'd pick medicine

Hi Linda,

The physician is ordering the kidney biopsy to rule out Lupus. She does not state a specific method for the biopsy. :0)

If your Physician is ordering a BX, then I would count 1 point under the medical (90000) section for Data points.

I would also apply it as Moderate under the Procedures Ordered section of the Risk Table (Deep needle or incisional biopsy)
