I work for an Internal Medicine Physician, I wanted to see if someone can help answer this for me: We see patients in a skilled nursing setting. When the patients are admitted they call our Physician who gives orders and does the admission over the phone. The Physician will go one or two days later to see the patient. He brings back the admission notes which shows the original date of admission, but we are billing from the date that the patient was actually seen by him??? so for example date of admission is
01/01/2012 we bill the admission from the date he or she was seen say 01/03/2012??I believe this is incorrect, but they have been billing this way for years?? If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated!!
