Wiki Skin Tags and Lesions

Can you bill 11200 along with 11423 and 11424? I thought that there was a rule regarding combining to largest lesions and bill with that code? Any ideas?

The excision codes (114xx for benign and 116xx for malignant) are for each lesion and you do not add the lesions together.These codes do not include skin tags as noted in CPT.

The excision of skin tags (11200/11201) are per tag (no matter which method of removal); these you add together to pick an appropriate code.

You can bill 11200 and 11423,11424 on the same claim if the provider documents excision of skin tags and then documents excision of other lesion(s). Remember to check cci edits.

The excision and destruction of lesions have different rules for different lesion types AND each lesion type has a different way of adding lesions to chose a code === read the book carefully!
