Wiki Sleep studies and pfts

Would your provider code an E&M and Sleep study code.

Hello,
This question has two parts. I have a provider that is performing a sleep study, but just giving the patient the equipment and showing them how to use it. The provider is trying to code an E&M and the CPT. Have you ever seen this done before? Is it normal for a provider to do an exam when the equipment is handed out? Or will an exam be done after the patient returns with the equipment?

The other scenario is that the provider and his staff perform a PFT, is an exam done first? Or will the patient get an E&M when they return.

Any help will be appreciated.
