Wiki Smoking Cessation prior to surgery

Hello,

Does anybody know if you can bill for smoking cessation when the surgeon counsels the pt. during the initial office visit. the physician has decided to do surgery and felt that it was needed to counsel the pt. In my opinion I think he should be able to bill for this. Im just wondering what other surgeon offices are doing?

we bill smoking cessation on a daily basis and no modifier is needed.

in Illinois, it's denied w/o the mod...........
