:confused: How do I know whether a patient's SNF stay is Part A or Part B?

I had a question dealing with casting and supplies. Depending on if the stay was Part A or Part B: Bill component if patient is a Part A stay; bill services if patient is a Part B stay. :confused:
 
I just noticed your question today. I deal with this issue all the time with Medicare SNF patients who present to our Ortho office. The issue is with x-rays. If they are enrolled in the SNF under part A, we bill the professional (26) to Medicare, and bill the technical (TC) to the SNF. When we are notified that they are enrolled in the SNF (which isn't all the time) I have found that it is worth it to just call the SNF to find out if they are part A or not. Some SNF's send the patient with the proper info, others do not. Some patients are brought in by family members who have picked them up for a "visit" and offer no SNF info. It's another constant hurdle.
