The dermatologist that I work for started doing what he calls "Excision w/ Spaghetti margin control." I've been searching my very limited resources and Google, but I can't find anything about how to bill this. Basically he's cutting a strip of skin to biopsy before he does the actual excision (about a week or 2). They are not being done the same day. One article said it's an alternative to Mohs, but didn't say how to bill. He isn't doing anything with the actual lesion at this point, so I don't feel like and excision or biopsy code would be appropriate. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
