I am going to be working with home birth midwives who do their visits in the patients home. After going through their current codes, they have told me that they do not often get reimbursed for collecting the specimens that they send off to the lab. What code(s) would they use for collecting blood, vaginal, etc. specimen?
 
99000 but it is not always paid. You could include the description of the code form CPT and a note of what was collected and that it was sent to an outside lab.
