I have received conflicting information regarding whether a speech pathologist can use the diagnosis they determine on claims to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois or they need to use the referring physician/pediatrician diagnosis on the referral. It has been my understanding that a SLP can diagnosis and bill with that diagnosis. Any help would be appreciated.
