I need help with this OP report. So the surgeon did a posterior approach and removed posterior cervical segmental instrumentation C3-4-5-6-7. He then turned the patient and did an anterior approach, did a fusion and placed anterior instrumentation at C3-4-5-6-7. My question is how to code the instrumentation. Would I code it as reinsertion, 22849? Or would I use the anterior instrumentation code 22846? I am just a little confused if I could use 22849 since he removed posterior and then placed anterior. Thanks!
