Wiki Spine now considered a sub speciality??

We are being told by multiple sources that spine is now considered a sub-speciality under orthopaedics. So if one of our regular ortho docs sees a patient and then is referred to a spine doc we now can bill a new patient visit for the spine doc. Has anyone else heard this and if so where can we go to find this information? Your help is greatly appreciated.
