What is the general consensus...

When a splint (casting/strapping/etc.) is applied in the ED is it ok to bill when the physician oversees/reviews the application by a tech or should the physician be performing the application personally?

(Billing for physician)

Depends

Medicare does require that the physician actually applies the splint/strap. With other payers it's a mixed bag. So you need to know the payers policy. But some coding entites will code for ED spliinting/strapping based on documented physician managment and checking of the stability of the splint etc. to payers who will pay.
