How is your organization handling time statements when the visit is a Split/shared CC visit? Are you requiring separate statements for total visit time, shared/overlapping time, and critical care minutes? Is there any official guidance on this question? I've read everything from CMS and our MAC, among other resources, on CC and Split/Shared but nothing is found for documenting time overall and if critical care time needs to be carved out. It would seem that total minutes, whether one or multiple/shared visits, would need to carve out specifically how many minutes are actually CC.

TIA

Right. You still need to follow the rules for critical care services even when you use Medicare's split/shared rule to bill critical care. Medicare guidelines do state that split/shared time is calculated based on critical care activities listed in the CPT manual.
