I'm needing clarification on the Coding Edge article about split/shared visits.
The article clearly states that the physician must document substantive portion of an e/m, i.e. some part of hx, pe, and mdm. The article then goes on to say that the split/shared visits are similar to the teaching physician guidelines and then it gives examples of teaching physician linking statements to use with split/shared visits.
Is this acceptable?
ALSO
if a physician and a npp are rounding at the same time on the patient how shoud this be documented? if the npp writes the note what kind of documentation needs to be provided by the physician since they're seeing the pt at the same time?
thanks
