Can a split/shared visit be billed when the intent of a consult is to tranfer care of some of the patients medical problems? We understand true consults must be billed under the mid level's NPI but not sure how the guidelines apply to tranfer of care visits and we've looked online for information with no success. References to where the information is found would be appreciated.
