I know that Medicare does not allow split/shared visits for consults or new patients. Do these rules only apply to Medicare? I cannot find anything in our SC BCBS contract regarding split/shared visits.

Yes, I believe this is a Medicare policy/guideline - I would check with my provider relations contact to determine thier policy on NP/PA guidelines and incident to/Shared/split policies - many payers will follow Medicare's guidelines but not always.

can you combine the Np's/Md's times to get a higher level code?
This question is on a thread from 13 years ago - guidelines are different than the original posting.
Your question is too vague to answer. Are you talking about split/shared in the inpatient setting? If so, yes, you may combine times, just not overlapping times. There are guidelines about who the service gets billed under and requires -FS. If you are referencing other types of visits, you will need to supply more details.
