Wiki Splitting global surgery billing for same doc

We have a situation where one of our doctors is leaving our practice and moving to another. He will be following some of his post op surgical patients at his new practice. Is it appropriate to split the billing between the two practices with modifiers 54, 55, 56? Or since he did the surgery will all of the post-op visits still be considered in the global period for this doc.
