"Sporadic stool incontinence. The patient has normal stool formed between the episodes of incontinence and we are still waiting for a GI eval."

Anyone have an idea what code to use here?
I'm hesitant to use 787.60 because it reads "FULL fecal incontinence"...

To me, 'sporadic' is the tricky part here-either you have it or you don't, right? But I agree with you, 787.60 is for FULL fecal incontinence, which to me would imply each and every bowel movement. I would use 787.99 (change in bowel habits) pending the GI workup. Could be the patient has an infection or something else that's causing the episodes of incontinence, but until the results are in, I'd go with a generic code.
