Good morning,

I have moved from inpatient behavioral health to the outpatient setting. Can someone please help me with sports physicals? How do you code the sports physical that is not done with the yearly well child check since the z02.5 can't be a primary diagnosis? The only other thing done was an HPV vaccination. I know that the preventive codes shouldn't be used cause the sports physical lacks the comprehension.
 
Z02.5 is allowed to be a Primary Diagnosis, also I believe CPT assistant says that if the Sports Physical is not done with the yearly well visit exam then you use an office visit CPT as well, usually Lowest MDM on either new or established, so level 2.
