Our surgeon repaired a stab wound "laparoscopically" (49320), but in the process also had to suture a large hole in the peritoneal surface, as well as close the site of the stab wound. Are both of those repairs included in the laparoscopic procedure? He obviously did more than just investigate. Would billing 49320 with modifier 22 be appropriate? Or should it be billed as an unlisted code and submit with a copy of the op report?
