I have an orthopedic surgeon performing a sternomanubrial fusion on a patient and am at a loss as to how to code this. Patient had previous bypass, had a reaction to the wires used to close the sternotomy so those were removed and now has painful sternomanubrial articulation. The fusion was done with an iliac crest bone graft and plates/screws. I got 20902 for the graft since it was harvested from a separate site, and I was looking at 21750 for the fusion but not sure this is correct. My other thought was 21899, but not sure what I would use as a comparison code. Anyone familiar with this procedure?
