Strange situation I need help with

Best answers
Looking for advice on this. Pt is inpatient, but had consult service performed at attached clinic (yes, patient was wheeled over) because the doctor needed specific equiptment housed at the clinic. How do we bill this? Can we bill it as an outpt consult because the place of service was the clinic or will this get denied because the patient was actually inpatient during this time too? Yuk! any help would be appreciated.

It will be denied because the patient was inpatient. We have had this occur in the past and viewed the clinic in this scenario as an extension of the patient's hospital bed per se so we billed as inpatient.
