I am the coder for a cardiology group and my question is....Where can you find a list of "face to face" professional services? The doctors do not agree that a stress test (93015,93016,93018) is a "face to face" professional service. My argument with them is that it is and they can't bill a new patient visit. Scenario: FP doc sends pt to the treadmill dept for a stress test. It is supervised by one of my Cardiologists. After the test the FP sends the patient to the cardiologist for a consult. Because Medicare doesn't recognize Consults we have to use either new or established codes.

Any ideas? How can I prove that it is a "face to face" professional service? They say the description in CPT could be interpreted differently.
