Hello,

We are coding , thromboembolic stroke and having a difference in opinions.
Looking at I63.40.

Comments???

From what I was able to figure out, thromboembolic stroke is when you throw a clot somewhere in the body and the embolism goes to your brain.

Code would be based on where the clot ended up.

I63.1- for precerebral arteries
I63.4- for cerebral arteries

You then code for which artery.
