Hi all!

Has anybody had any experience with coding for "finger reimplantation with the palmar pocket technique"?. The patient in this case had a complete Right ring finger distal amputation/degloving and microvascular anastomosis was initially attempted but not done because there was no viable vessels found. Surgeon eventually opted for reimplantation with palmar pocket techniqueto allow for revascularization. Would 20822 cover this procedure? Or would it be best to use the unlisted code & compare to 20822?

Would appreciate any insight/rationale on how to best code this one. Am really stumped.

Thanks!

I know that this post is really old, but what did you ever find out on this? I have an ENT physician who treated a patient who had an amputation of the upper portion of the ear. He created a pocket behind the remaining ear, implanted the amputated portion, and then reattached it in a staged procedure. I am trying to figure out what to bill for the pocket creation, implantation, etc. Thank you.
