If you have a superbill that was filled out by the physician and has not be billed and the coder that is reviewing it disagrees with the physician's e/m level IS it legal for the coder to change the superbill to the correct code without the physicians approval???????

I believe it is legal. However, your office may want to set up a protocol (or may already have one in place) for how to handle this situation, such as educating the physician so that (s)he doesn't continue to make the same mistakes, or at least making him/her aware of the error.
