A question has been presented to me, and I am hoping that someone could point me to some documentation.

Physician A is supervising physician while Physician B is out on vacation the question asked is can Physician B sign off on work that was done when Physican A was the Dr. on site during that time?

My first thought was Physician A should be the one signing off?

Thank you

I believe the thought was that Physician B was only signing off on all the PA's patients that were seen when Dr. B is gone. To me that sets up alot room for an auditor to question why when Dr. A was there to oversee the PA's.

If the covering physician is doing the work, he's gotta sign off on it. Is he not credentialed with anyone. And is he a physician or a PA or NP?
