Hello,
I am trying to learn how Critical Access Hospitals are paid. When coding supplies from an ER visit, is it acceptable to charge all supplies used? Such as: Urinal, IV tubing, clean catch kit, diapers, surgical gloves, ice packs, steri strips, etc. - is any of this stuff bundled?

Thank you for your input.

Hello, we do not charge for these types of items. Most of these types of items are considered bundled into the ER facility charge or the procedure that is being performed in the ER. That is my understanding. We have really trimmed down our charge master and increased our facility charges to allow for these types of charges.
