We have several "young" cases, patients in their 20's-30's coming in for treatment of hyperhidrosis. Surgery is nerve clipping, NOT Botox injections. Surgeon is currently billing codes such as:

32651 Thoracoscopy, surgical; with partial pulmonary decortication
OR
32664 Thoracoscopy, surgical; with thoracic sympathectomy

Both are classified as inpatient procedures per Medicare Guidelines. Our surgeon is pre-certing these surgeries as outpatient, especially as they see there is no need to keep these young, able-bodied patients overnight. We coders are advising that the surgeon admits these cases as inpatient.

Are there any outpatient procedure codes for nerve clipping?
