Hello,

I apologize if this is something that has been answered, however I code for a gastroenterology office that has 4 providers. The doctors do the surgeries and typically the midlevel will see the patients in the office and give the results of their surgery (EGD/COLONOSCOPY, ETC) However I have a provider that is asking if she gets credit for the review of the surgery results. It was my understanding that even though she didn't order it and she has to review them, that the credit is already given at the time of the order (because they are within the same office/specialty) or does that not count for review for surgeries?

I appreciate any feedback as some of the accounts could potentially alter the level depending on if I can count it or not.

Thank you
Amanda Richards, CPC

When your midlevels are working under your GI physicians, they are considered the same specialty and group. The work of reviewing the results was already paid to your practice, and you cannot count it again.
